As MKs
(missionary kids), Marty and Jeanette Windle both grew up in the small
towns, jungles and Andes mountains of Latin America. Marty was eleven
years old when his parents arrived in Bolivia as missionaries with Andes
Evangelical Mission (now merged with SIM International). He graduated
from high school via PACE correspondence school. He and attended
Prairie Bible College, where he graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of
Theology. He obtained a Master of Arts in Theological Studies in 2004 at
the Miami International Seminary.
Jeanette was three years
old when her parents entered missionary service with TEAM (The
Evangelical Alliance Mission) in Colombia. Jeanette attended an
English-language boarding school in Venezuela, Christiansen Academy,
from which she graduated with honors in 1978. She was a National Merit
Scholarship finalist. In 1981, Jeanette graduated with a Bachelor's
degree in Biblical Studies and Theology from Prairie Bible College in
Three Hills, Alberta.
Marty
and Jeanette served in the pastorate in Montana and Wyoming from
1981-1984 with the Christian & Missionary Alliance, with whom Marty was
ordained in 1984. In 1985, they moved to
Bolivia as missionaries with the Gospel Missionary Union (now AVANT
Ministries) an
interdenominational Christian mission organization. While her husband
served as field director, Jeanette worked with women and children at risk in
varied regions of Bolivia.
Marty
and Jeanette have four children---Michael, Joshua, Stephen, and Ellie.
Jeanette began her publishing/writing career producing Spanish-language
educational and inspirational material for women and children at risk as
well as writing articles for a variety of international publications.
Her first book, Kathy and the Redhead, a children's novel based
on her own experiences growing up in South America, was published in
1991. This was followed over the next years by the Parker Twins
Adventure Series, a teen novel Jana’s Journal, and adult
political/suspense titles, CrossFire, The DMZ,
FireStorm, and Zona de Despeje. Her most recent suspense
novel, Betrayed, will be released by Tyndale House Publishers in
March, 2008.
Marty and Jeanette moved to Miami in June, 2000, when
Marty assumed the position of Vice-President of General Services for
the Latin America Mission, a nondenominational Christian mission
organization working throughout Latin America. Jeanette developed a
ministry as consulting editor and mentor in training indigenous writers
in a dozen different countries from Mexico, Spain, Philippines to
Croatia and Bulgaria.
In January, 2006, Marty and Jeanette moved again to
Lancaster, PA, when Marty accepted the position of President of BCM
International, formerly the Bible Club Movement, a nondenominational
mission organization with 750+ missionaries in some 50 countries across
5 continents. Jeanette is the editor of BCM World,
BCM’s news magazine, and continues to work with developing Christian
writers around the world. Both travel extensively and between them have
ministered in more than 35 countries.
